During 2010, Lambda Theta Phi celebrated its 35th Anniversary. The year was full of momentous occasions. In January, Kean University held a monumental ceremony dedicating university areas to the fraternity, including the initial birthplace and meeting room, Willis Hall Room 400. In addition, various scholarships were created including one in the name of Fraternal Father Dr. Cayetano Socarras and Founding Father Agustin Garcia. In June, hundreds of brothers descended upon our Nation's Capital and was the first greek organization to hold our convention session at the historic United States Capital Russel Senate Building. US Senator and Brother Robert Menendez hosted Lambda Theta Phi as we toured Washington DC on double-decker buses and absorbed the gran contributions Latinos have made to the United States. In December, we concluded our yearlong celebration with a traditional candle light vigil at Alpha chapter and held the 35th Anniversary Gala at the Newark Liberty Marriott. Pat Ippilito, Kean College Dean of Students, during the 70's was our guest speaker. Dr. Ippilito recollection brought great laughter and insight into the struggles of Latinos on the college campus. In addition, the National Executive Board recognized Founding Fathers Agustin Garcia, Reinaldo Lago, Hiram Cardona, Raymond Rosa and Fraternal Father Jose A. Quiles with keys symbolizing their bravery in opening the door to our brotherhood. The night was filled with excitement, including Mariachi band, light show, vendors, photo gallery and Samba dancers. What a way to end a yearlong celebration for our 35th Anniversary and setting the precedent for the next 35 years
